ABSTRACT.png

miRNAs are important regulators of the process of ageing and age-associated disorders. While miRNAs are more abundant in nucleus or cytoplasm, recent research has identified miRNAs in mitochondria. These miRNAs are known as mitochondrial miRNAs or mitomiRs. Mitochondria are indispensable for cellular ageing, and we aim to understand the how mitomiRs regulate ageing and age dependent neurological disorders. The primary aim is to identify mitomiRs and their protein targets that modulating ageing and neuro-degenerative pathologies in order to develop potential therapeutic interventions.
